Red Dead Redemption 2 releases Oct. 26, which means we'll be exploring the wild west on horseback in just a few short weeks. If you bought a digital version of Red Dead 2, you'll need to make sure you have enough room on your console's hard drive, and have enough time, to download the game before it officially releases.
On the Xbox side, the general consensus online is that Microsoft opens up preloading a week or two before release. This means we should be able to start downloading Red Dead 2 on our Xbox Ones any day now. According to a post from GTA Base, Gamestop seemingly revealed a preload date of Oct. 12. That's just around the corner!

You'll want to preload Red Dead Redemption 2 if you bought a digital copy, because this game is massive. The download size for RDR2 is 105GB on PS4 and 110GB on Xbox One. That could take multiple days for someone with a slow internet connection to finish downloading. Preloading allows gamers to have a copy sitting on their console's hard drive, inaccessible until it is unlocked. Once that lock has been released, players can instantly start their adventures instead of waiting for a download.

It is very simple to solve this problem if you are in the same situation, just install the game to the internal hard drive and set the download location for all new downloads to the internal hard drive. After that, the installation progress should perform smoothly.
Xbox account might be ignored. In order to install the game smoothly, you should sign in the correct account. If you have multiple accounts on the console, make sure that you are signed in with the account you used to purchase this game. This solution only applies to digital downloads.
The Microsoft Store page currently lists the game's "Approximate Size" as being 88.57GB. While that may be smaller than PS4's listed size, there could be a reasons for this. For one, it's not clear if "Approximate Size" is listing the download size (the size of all the files users download from the servers, which are often compressed) or the install size (the files as they actually are, after the installer has uncompressed them). A size difference of about 16GB would be in line with the average difference between download and install sizes.
According to Polygon, those who have downloaded Red Dead Redemption 2 through Xbox Game Pass will, indeed, have access to Red Dead Online. As well, Xbox Game Pass subscribers also have access to Photo Mode.
With such a vast collection of great games to download, with all of their features, Xbox Game Pass is quite an enticing service. It is sad whenever a game gets replaced, although Red Dead Redemption 2 is an evolution in some ways from Grand Theft Auto V.
